FAQ

What do XT and XXT mean?

Almost all of our chew tools come in 3 color-coded toughness levels - soft, XT, and XXT.

  • XT stands for "Xtra Tough" and XXT stands for "Xtra Xtra Tough"
  • Soft / Standard = always the softest level in any shape.  This level is best for mild chewing (for those who need to chew, but don't usually chew through anything they chew on.)
  • XT / Medium Firm = firmer, but still fairly chewy in most shapes, especially the long slender back-molar ones.  It's closest to the firmness of pink pearl erasers.  This level is best for moderate chewers (for those who have chewed through the softest level or who have chewed through other items)
  • XXT / Super Firm = this is the most rigid level.  Nothing chewable is indestructible, but this is usually the longest lasting level in any given shape for very avid / aggressive chewing.

Which hardness level should I get?

Oral sensory preferences can vary from person to person, or even from day to day for the same person.

Should you be desperate yourself or because of your junior, always be aware of the fact, that XXT chewelry is made of really hard and resistible material. We recommend to start with XXT level only in case, that you are truly convinced that the user has a very very intense need of oral sensory input (e.g. bites and chews on hard items just like lego bricks) and/or you know that the user prefers to chew on hard objects that aren’t elastic in any way.

We have never got a feedback of the type: “I don’t like the chewerly ,because it’s too soft for me.” But from time to time we heard from user that “It’s not OK for me as this type is too hard for me.”

When in doubt, it's always best to go with something softer rather than harder.  It's possible the user may eventually need something tougher, but the main goal is to choose something that they'll want to use.  And if you get something super tough straight away, they may not like chewing on something that tough.
